Mikel Arteta says Arsenal have a 'terrific' talent in their ranks
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has lauded Gabriel Magalhaes for his superb display as the Gunners beat Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
The north Londoners, who lost their opening three league games, are back on track with two consecutive wins in the top flight.
Gabriel was injured for Arsenal’s first three league games, and the team really missed him.
It’s no coincidence that the 23-year-old’s return to the starting XI has culminated in two consecutive clean-sheet wins.
On Saturday, Arsenal headed to Turf Moor, home of one of the most physical teams in the division.
And they emerged with a 1-0 victory, courtesy of Martin Odegaard’s amazing free kick.
It wasn’t the prettiest of games, but the Gunners got the job done, and Gabriel played a huge part in that.
The £50,000-a-week ace made crucial blocks and challenges throughout, including one huge tackle in the first-half to deny Ashley Barnes.
He looked sharp and passionate, almost like he was relishing the task of keeping Burnley’s powerhouse front line at bay.
And speaking after the game, Arteta couldn’t sing Gabriel’s praises highly enough.
“It doesn’t get much harder than playing here in the Premier League and he was terrific today.”
