Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson is a man in serious form right now.
The 30-year-old was involved in all four goals against Aston Villa at the weekend and the Magpies continued their assault on the top four.
Speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, Wilson spoke about last weekend’s match.
Wilson explained that Aston Villa ended up doing something that helped Newcastle win the match.
The match looked set to be goalless at half-time, but there was a huge amount of injury time played at Villa Park.

This was partly because Emi Martinez suffered a head injury that required lengthy treatment on the pitch.
However, Wilson said that Aston Villa’s ‘incredible’ time wasting ended up helping Newcastle after they were awarded a late penalty in the first half.
Newcastle’s late first-half goal forced Villa to come out of their shell, which opened up more space for Eddie Howe’s side to attack.
They dominated the game in the second-half and ended up comfortably winning the game.
Wilson surprised by Aston Villa time wasting
“It’s one of them, that moment in the game where we needed a goal because the time wasting was incredible,” said Wilson.
“So, it helped us really, making them come out of their holes and pockets and get them actually playing the game.”
Aston Villa have had a tough start to the season, and have already sacked manager Steven Gerrard.
Unai Emery has been brought in to try and steady the ship, but Villa’s early time-wasting was deployed to try and get a result against one of the league’s in-form sides.

Wilson’s individual form has been really impressive, with Paul Merson calling him ‘phenomenal’.
The Englishman might just have one eye on Gareth Southgate’s England squad announcement for the World Cup next week.
Glenn Murray believes he should be on the plane, and Wilson has one last league match against Southampton to twist Southgate’s arm.
Wilson might come up against more time wasting like Aston Villa’s this season if Newcastle’s brilliant form continues.
