Championship stopper Ben Foster has told the Saturday Social that Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez is the Premier League’s best goalkeeper on current form.
The Watford player was on the show to pick the five best stoppers in the top-flight based on current form alone.
Interestingly he didn’t name Manchester City stopper Ederson among his top five, with the Villa man coming out on top.

He spoke about the stopper’s path to Premier League stardom and how surprised he was when Arsenal decided to cash in during the summer transfer window.
Foster told the Saturday Social: “On current form, I’ve gone for Emi Martinez at Aston Villa.
“Wow, it’s his first proper Premier League season, he’s been around a long time; played in the lower leagues, the Championship and that.
“He’s always been known as a good goalkeeper. At Arsenal last season he was incredible, there was a lot of pressure on him but he was incredible.
“I genuinely can’t believe Arsenal sold him in the summer. Don’t get me wrong, Bernd Leno, incredible but Martinez, wow, what a goalie.”
TBR View: Martinez arguably Villa’s best signing of the season
The 28-year-old was viewed as a good signing when he checked in but he’s helping Villa enjoy a really decent campaign.
Dean Smith changed his approach in the transfer market during the summer, choosing young, hungry players from the Championship – with Martinez and Ross Barkley to provide top-flight experience.
Martinez has already kept 12 clean sheets this season, including two against Arsenal.
It was vital that the Argentine headed out to play some regular football and Arsenal’s loss is Aston Villa’s gain.
He has been a standout performer in Smith’s team and has already won plenty of points for Villa.

The £20 million man can still get even better and on current form, he is proving a real steal for Aston Villa.
Martinez earns £47,000-a-week at Villa Park and if he stays in top form, he could lead the club into Europe this season.
