‘Incredible’… Alfie Whiteman says £17m Tottenham player is brilliant in Spurs training

Guglielmo Vicario has been absolutely brilliant since arriving at Tottenham this summer.

The Italian has proven himself to be one of the very best goalkeepers in the Premier League, and that £17m fee is starting to look like an absolute bargain.

However, it’s not just on the pitch where Vicario is impressing.

Indeed, by the sounds of it, the Italian is also doing the business behind the scenes.

Speaking on the Off The Shelf Podcast, Alfie Whiteman has been discussing what it’s like to train alongside Vicario, and he says that he’s absolutely incredible behind the scenes at Hotspur Way.

Whiteman spoke about the goalkeeper.

“It’s incredible. Vic, people see matchdays and the games, but he’s an incredible professional. People around the training ground will know that he’s always here and he’s always trying to improve. So I’m not surprised at all. In training you see him and everything he does on the matchday he does here. That’s the thing with outside perception of performances. People will be surprised, but internally there is no surprise, people don’t train badly and then play well,” Whiteman said.

It’s not at all surprising to hear that Vicario is doing so well in training.

Indeed, the Italian is a top player, and those good performances on the pitch don’t come unless you’re doing the business behind the scenes.

As Whiteman says, Vicario is a fantastic professional, and he says that nobody within Tottenham is surprised by how well the goalkeeper has been doing in games after seeing his performanes in training.

Replacing Hugo Lloris was not an easy job that Tottenham had to take-on this summer, but they have smashed it out of the park in finding Vicario as the man to replace their long-term captain.

Vicario may well be one of the signings of the summer.
