Ahead of what many perceive to be a quiet January transfer window ahead, one Premier League star is now very keen to join Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

The club are somewhat restricted by their Financial Fair Play regulations heading into the window, however, moves aren’t impossible.

And according to a report by the Daily Mirror, Pedro Neto is now increasingly keen to join Arsenal, a player they have often shown interest in.

Moreover, via this same information, that can also be said for Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Of course, it does bode very well for Arsenal that these players are willing to seek a transfer to the side, such is Mikel Arteta’s pull.

And although settled at Aston Villa, Douglas Luiz, a player also said to be coveted by Arsenal, has hinted that he’s also flattered by recent interest as well.

Arsenal are top of the league with a young and ambitious squad, it’s a project bound to capture the imagination.

And it certainly must be frustrating for Arsenal that they can’t currently spend bigger in January, given what a boost the arrival of Neto would be.

Arteta does have plenty of options in attack, but Neto would elevate the level of competition to no end.

The next part of Arteta’s squad building at Arsenal could be a particularly tough one to swallow for some.

David Raya replacing Aaron Ramsdale was the first instalment, a much loved player ruthlessly upgraded upon.

And with a move for ‘incredible‘ Pedro Neto or Ivan Toney perhaps likely, that would come at the expense of two other much loved stalwarts of the club.

Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah look increasingly on the periphery of things, a project that is moving on without them in some respects.

The duo were both unused subs when Arsenal made a late comeback against Luton Town on Tuesday.

Mikel Arteta will need to continue to be pragmatic in the transfer window at Arsenal, even if it does cause some upset.

That being said, it seems as if one of Arsenal’s key players may now be at risk of losing his starting role in the near future.
