Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in signing Josh Doig.

That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who has reported interest in the Hellas Verona full-back from Leeds United and Rangers as well.

So, what has been reported about Arsenal and Josh Doig? Let’s take a look.

Arsenal linked with Josh Doig

Well, journalist Dean Jones has reported in GiveMeSport that Arsenal are among the clubs who are keen on Hellas Verona full-back Josh Doig.

The well-known and well-respected reporter has claimed that Arsenal have been following the left-back over the past year.

The journalist has also reported that Scottish Premiership giants Rangers and Leeds United, who are playing in the Championship this season, are keen on a deal for the 21-year-old.

Jones told GiveMeSport: “He Doig] is a target that both [Leeds and Rangers] were very well informed on, and Arsenal have been kept in touch with his progress over the past year or so.

“He is a really good player and, obviously, both Leeds and Rangers could do with a boost in his position, so this is becoming an active pursuit of an attainable player.

“But, from a Leeds perspective, it really does seem like they are going after a few players that have specific experience and traits. Ben Johnson, from West Ham, is attainable and could be the one.”

Doig, who has played on the left side of defence and midfield this season, has been on the books of Verona since 2022 when he joined from Hibernian.

The Scotland Under-21 international left-back is rated highly in the footballing community.

In June 2021, former Celtic and Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas urged the Hoops to sign Doig, saying that “he could be the next Kieran Tierney”. Nicolas added that the left-back “has great potential and could flourish into a real Tierney type”.

Tierney joined Arsenal from Celtic in 2019. The 26-year-old Scotland international left-back is now on loan at Spanish club Real Sociedad.

Arsenal unlikely to be able to sign Josh Doig in January

Arsenal may be interested in Josh Doig, but it does not seem likely that the Gunners will be able to sign him in the January transfer window.

The left-back looks to be on his way to Marseille. As you can see, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on X that Doig has agreed a deal with the French club, who are now in talks with Hellas Verona.

Doig has made 11 starts and one substitute appearance in Serie A for Hellas this season.
