Tim Sherwood has been speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show and has shared what Mikel Arteta is now ‘secretly’ thinking at Arsenal.

The Gunners went back above Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table on Sunday after an impressive display at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel Arteta’s side completely dominated the game against Chelsea and took all three points back to north London after Gabriel Magalhaes’ second-half winner.

The performance only strengthened belief that Arsenal can indeed challenge for the title this season and Sherwood thinks Arteta will believe they have a chance of doing so.

Sherwood shares what Arteta is thinking at Arsenal

The former Tottenham boss says Arteta will ‘secretly’ believe that his side have a chance of winning the Premier League title this season.

They’re in it. In their dressing room they believe they’re in it,” he told the Kelly and Wrighty Show.

“Mikel secretly believes they’re in it. But he knows exactly where he’s come from and he knows how strong the team are that are serial winners of this league.”

Arsenal certainly look like the only team capable of challenging Pep Guardiola’s side at this moment in time.

The Gunners have produced positive results consistently this season and have looked impressive while doing so.

Arteta has every right to believe that his side can challenge for the title after their early season form and with a win against Wolves on Saturday, Arsenal could head into the World Cup as league leaders.

There are question marks over the depth of the Arsenal squad, particularly in midfield and in the wide areas.

But the Arsenal boss will get the chance to bolster his options in January and it could help them maintain a serious challenge for the title.

Arteta has managed his side brilliantly so far this season and managed to avoid injuries to key players. But the Spaniard will be hoping to bring in some more quality options after the World Cup.
