Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks.

The Spurs academy graduate has become surplus to requirements at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Winks was one of the players Antonio Conte reportedly froze out of the first-team training fold.

Over the past few days, the England international has been linked with a move to Sampdoria.

Now, Romano has taken to Twitter to claim Tottenham and Sampdoria have agreed a season-long loan deal.

Winks will be flying to Italy in the next hours to undergo a medical and put pen to paper, added the transfer insider.

According to the Daily Mail, the move was held up due to the Bank Holiday meaning Winks’ visa could not be processed.

Romano’s update seems to imply that this is no longer an issue, as he’s on his way to Italy. However, this hasn’t been confirmed.

Should Winks seal a move to Sampdoria, Tottenham will have successfully moved on all four players who Conte reportedly froze out of training.

Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon have already sealed loan moves to Napoli, Villarreal and Atletico Madrid respectively.

Tottenham have made seven signings so far this summer. And with numerous outgoings completed, Conte and Fabio Paratici could well look at more incomings now.
