Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has accepted a loan move to Sampdoria, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 26-year-old has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte at Spurs.

The Tottenham boss has often opted for the midfield pairing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Yves Bissouma’s arrival has also pushed Winks further down the pecking order.

And with Oliver Skipp closing in on a return from injury, it all adds up to Winks now being surplus to Conte’s requirements.

Like Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Sergio Reguilon, Winks didn’t travel to Spurs’ pre-season tour to South Korea.

And a few weeks ago, it was reported that the England international was training away from the rest of the Spurs team.

Yesterday, The Mirror claimed that Winks was planning to reject offers from abroad in favour of a Premier League move.

But now, Romano has taken to Twitter to report that the Spurs academy graduate will now be heading to Serie A.

The transfer insider claims the final steps will be discussed in the next hours ahead of Winks travelling to Italy.

Romano also reported that Winks will complete his loan switch to Genoa in the next few days.
