Clement Lenglet spoke to BT Sport after last night’s win and shared what really happened in Tottenham Hotspur’s dressing at half-time.

Spurs put in a lacklustre first-half display yet again and fell behind to Marseille right before they headed into the break.

Chancel Mbemba powered his header past Hugo Lloris after Spurs completely switched off from a corner.

Conte’s men needed to pick up at least a draw and eventually ran out 2-1 winners after a much improved second-half performance.

Now, Lenglet has shared with BT Sport that there were some harsh words exchanged during the interval.

Lenglet shares what happened in Tottenham’s dressing room

“After the first half we speak in the locker room. We tell what we have to tell – I don’t know if it’s good English,” Lenglet said.

“But in the second half we start with a lot more positivity and aggression and played a very good second half.”

Whatever was said at half-time clearly worked as Spurs came out a different side after the break.

Lenglet got his side back on level terms as he headed home Ivan Perisic’s pinpoint delivery from a free-kick.

Spurs looked more threatening in the second-half and started to cause Marseille more problems, while keeping the ball more efficiently.

They only managed two shots during the opening 45 minutes and both of them came after they fell behind.

As has been the case in recent weeks, Spurs started really poorly and struggled to keep hold of the ball. But an improved second-half performance and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s winner ensured they advanced to the last-16 and topped their group.

Conte will certainly need to address his side’s bad habit of starting games slowly as they will not be able to continue coming from behind to win games.

But the Italian will be delighted with the character his side showed last night. It didn’t seem to be their night at certain points, with Heung-Min Son forced off after a blow to the head early on in the game.

They were also without their boss’ influence from the touchline or dressing room as he was serving a one-match ban.

Yet, Spurs battled away to pick up a massive win and secure their place in the knockout stages.
