'In the final stages': Romano claims Liverpool are closing in on 'amazing' £54m signing, medical soon
Fabrizio Romano has just delivered some exciting news for Liverpool fans regarding Luis Diaz.
The Reds appear to have made huge progress in discussions over the Porto winger over the past 24 hours.
Diaz, who was reportedly in talks with Tottenham, is now seemingly closing in on a switch to Anfield.
Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, has just provided an update on the Diaz to Liverpool state of play.
And all the signs seem to point in the right direction as far as the Reds are concerned.
Not only was Diaz’s agent reportedly pushing for a move to Liverpool, but Klopp and his scouts are also huge fans of the player.
In addition, the Colombia international has been dreaming of a Premier League move, and Porto seem happy with Liverpool’s bid.
“They think the player is amazing”
“What happened is that Liverpool decided to jump in the negotiations,” Romano said.
“Also because the agent of the player was pushing for this solution.
“Jurgen Klopp is looking for Luis Diaz since long time.
“The head of scouting of Liverpool… guaranteed that this boy is really a potential top one for the future.
“They’ve been more than four times to scout him in 2021.
“So they think the player is amazing and this is why they made a bid.
“The total package could be around 60-65m euros (£50m-£54m), add-ons included.
“This is the fee Porto are prepared to accept this proposal from Liverpool.
“So Liverpool are getting really close to signing Luis Diaz, we’re in the final stages of this negotiations.
“And now Liverpool are now preparing for a medical in South America.”
According to Neil Jones of Goal.com, Liverpool are flying representaives out to Argentina.
This is with a view of completing the Diaz move over the weekend.
The Colombia national team fly to Argentina tonight following their World Cup qualifier against Peru this evening.
