Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Moussa Niakhate’s imminent move to Nottingham Forest.

The Reds have been closing in on the Mainz captain over the last few days.

On Tuesday, Romano claimed on Twitter that Niakhate had completed his medical to join Forest.

The Premier League newcomers and the Bundesliga side had reportedly struck a deal worth up to €15m (£12.9m).

And today, Romano reported that Niakhate would be penning his Forest contract this afternoon in Spain.

The former France Under-21 international is apparently signing a three-year contract with the City Ground outfit.

Niakhate will be meeting his new teammates at Forest’s pre-season training camp in Alicante, Spain.

Forest have done well to secure Niakhate’s signature, as he is a superb player.

Journalist Callum Castel has described him as an “unbelievable” signing for the City Ground side.

Indeed, Forest have done incredibly well in this summer’s transfer window, bringing in several superb players.

The Reds have also landed Taiwo Awoniyi, Giulian Biancone and Dean Henderson, the latter on loan.

Forest are reportedly looking for a new full-back too, with Liverpool’s Neco Williams apparently in Steve Cooper’s sights.
