'In talks': Fabrizio Romano says club are 'confident' in landing £34m Newcastle and Klopp target
Borussia Dortmund have reportedly stepped up their efforts to sign RB Salzburg star Karim Adeyemi, with Liverpool and Newcastle also in the chase for the striker.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the German club remain ‘in talks’ to sign the attacker, with Dortmund now ‘confident’ in signing Adeyemi after a breakout season in Austria with Salzburg.
The 19-year-old striker is reportedly on the radar for Liverpool as per Bild, with Sport1 also claiming that Newcastle are fans of Adeyemi, who according to Bild, can leave this summer for an Austrian Bundesliga record £34m.
However, despite the lure of the Premier League, all signs appear to point to Adeyemi joining Dortmund at the end of the season, with the German giants eager to secure a replacement for Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian striker, also a product of Salzburg’s famed development programme, is set to leave Germany this summer with Haaland having a release clause becoming active in the off-season, making the 21-year-old one of the hottest prospects in Europe.
Indeed, Dortmund are renowned for their efficiency in the transfer market, and signing Adeyemi as a replacement for Haaland is another masterstroke from the club, much to the dismay of Liverpool and Newcastle.
Adeyemi to Dortmund is a huge loss for Liverpool and Newcastle
With the youngster the latest sensation off the Salzburg production line, losing out on Adeyemi to Dortmund is a big blow for Liverpool and Newcastle, who both could have been ideal next clubs for the German international.
Indeed, the teenage sensation has the qualities and the potential to light up the Premier League, yet given Dortmund’s track record of developing players, it is no surprise that Adeyemi is open to a move to the Bundesliga side over Liverpool and Newcastle.
