Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are now in talks with Houssem Aouar’s agent, Fabrizio Romano has revealed on the Arsenal Lounge.
In contact
Arsenal have been heavily linked with the midfielder all summer, but it seems that Spurs are moving to sign the Lyon playmaker too.
Romano claims that contact between Tottenham and Aouar’s agent has been made now.
And it remains to be seen whether this interest will now materialise into a bid.
“He could be an opportunity for Arsenal and Tottenham, they are both in contact with his agent,” Romano said.
“So they are still looking at the situation and if Lyon will give the green light in the coming days, he could become an option for Arsenal too.”
Is Aouar needed?
The appeal of signing Aouar this summer is obvious, given his reduced price-tag.

However, there must be some question marks over whether he is a player that Tottenham actually need.
Spurs are fairly well stocked in midfield, with Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli all able to perform similar functions to Aouar.
That being said, if Spurs were to sign the Frenchman and could get him back to the top of his game, he could prove to be a real bargain.
And Spurs may feel that landing the player, who has been called ‘incredible’ by Pep Guardiola (Sky Sports), is just too good a chance to turn down.
What about Arsenal?
Arsenal’s need for a playmaker is more obvious than Tottenham’s.
Mikel Arteta’s side have been pushing for a new number 10 for most the summer so far, but have failed to get a deal over the line.
At the moment Aouar doesn’t seem to be their first choice, but it is interesting to hear that Arsenal are discussions with his agent.
And if their other targets continue to prove difficult to land, it would not be at all surprising to see Aouar work his way up their list of targets.
