Arsenal have made a move to sign Nuno Tavares from Benfica, Fabrizio Romano has suggested.
Tavares looks set to leave Benfica, with A Bola reporting last night that a transfer to England was imminent.
And Romano has claimed that Arsenal are now in talks to sign the full-back.
The Portuguese left-back actually has a £76 million release clause in his contract (Record), but Arsenal won’t be paying anywhere near that amount.
Romano instead says that he could be available for around £13 million.
A gamble worth taking

At that price Tavares could be a risk worth taking for Arsenal.
While the youngster is relatively unproven, and would be making a step up by moving to the Emirates Stadium, he has impressed in Portugal.
Tavares appears to have plenty of potential and he would fit in with the type of players Arsenal seem to be bringing to the club.
Mikel Arteta’s side really are hunting young players with room to develop, with Arsenal clearly hoping that the Spaniard can develop them on the training pitch.
Many Arsenal fans may have wanted a player to arrive with more experience, but instead the club are putting their faith in youth again.
Tavares is likely to arrive as a covering option at Arsenal, with Kieran Tierney first choice, but the Scot’s injury record is chequered and, therefore, it should be expected that he could play a considerable amount of times over the course of the campaign.
