A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been raving about Ruben Neves’ display for Wolves last night, some even urging Spurs to make a move for the 22-year-old midfielder and Jose Mourinho’s compatriot.
The hosts put in a formidable display to blow La Liga strugglers Espanyol away, and while Diogo Jota took the match ball with a hat-trick, Neves weighed in with an absolute thunderbolt to put his side two up early in the second half.
Jota opened the scoring in the 15th minute against Espanyol, who are bottom of La Liga with just four league wins all season and had made widescale changes for the game, with a volley from Raul Jimenez’s flick-on.
Wolves nonetheless lived dangerously as the visitors threatened on occasion, but then came the superb second of the game as a half-cleared ball fell to Neves, who controlled with his chest and let rip with a 25-yard volley.
From then on it was one-way traffic as Matt Doherty and Leander Dendoncker combined to set up Jota, who held off Victor Gomez to drill home in the 67th minute, and the cherry on top came nine minutes from time, Jota rifling a low shot home from the edge of the box.
Here is what some Tottenham fans said on social media regarding Neves’ display and goal:
Woooooow, what a magical goal by Neves for Wolves.

Yeah I think a striker and two fullbacks are the priority, although a DM like Neves wouldn’t go amiss tbh
