Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has offered an encouraging update to supporters over the fitness of summer signing, Thomas Partey.
The powerhouse midfielder has been missing in recent weeks thanks to injury, but could be in line for a return this weekend in the FA Cup.
And speaking ahead of the clash with Newcastle this weekend, Arteta offered positives news on the Ghanaian.
“Well, we have an extra two training sessions [before the game] and we will assess after that whether he is completely fully ready to participate against Newcastle, or if we’re going to leave it another few days for the Palace game,” Arteta said in his presser.
“He is training really good, he is comfortable, he is not aware of the injury right now and he has done more than what he already did before he played after the injury against Spurs, so he is in a good place, a good mood and you can see the player he is when he is training.”
The Gunners will be looking for a good cup run as they look to defend the trophy Arteta led them too last season.
Arteta has seen his side hit a purple patch of form, largely inspired by the performances of youngsters like Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe. Partey’s return, then, will be just another boost to proceedings.

This is huge for Arsenal, especially if they can incorporate Partey into a winning team with a good mentality.
The summer signing started brilliantly in north London but has seen his progress curtailed somewhat. With a bit of luck, he can put his injury worries firmly behind him and help inspire this exciting team of youngsters to bigger and better things in the coming weeks.
