Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly decided that they’ll definitely sign a new centre-back in the January transfer window.
This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who took to YouTube with an exciting update for Spurs fans regarding one of their top defensive targets.
The transfer insider has claimed that Tottenham are “100 percent” signing a new centre-back next month, and they have one key player in mind.
The player in question is Jean-Clair Todibo, who has been going from strength to strength for Ligue 1 side Nice.
According to Romano, Tottenham have already laid the groundwork for a potential deal, speaking to the player’s camp as well as his club.

“Another player who could join Premier League football in January and this (is) Jean Clair Todibo,” said Romano.
“This is an important news of the day, guys, because Tottenham, from what I understand, started the conversations to sign Todibo in January.
“So Tottenham will 100 percent sign a new centre-back in the January window and Todibo is one of the top targets.
“Not the only one – I’m told – in the shortlist, there are also other names, but in the last seven days Tottenham spoke to player side, to player’s camp and also to Nice, to understand about the conditions of the deal.
“So Tottenham want Todibo but the timing will be important. Tottenham want to be fast on this deal, they don’t want to spend one month negotiating with Nice and with the player.
“So the conversation is ongoing, Tottenham are trying.”
Tottenham Hotspur seem serious about Jean-Clair Todibo
There’s no doubt that Spurs need to bring in some more reinforcements at centre-back.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have been formidable as a defensive partnership, but sadly we won’t be able to see this again for at least a few more weeks.
Van de Ven is currently out injured and is very much being missed. And when Romero was also unavailable, the Spurs defence was rickety once again.
This is something Ange Postecoglou will be desperate to avoid in future, and the best way to mitigate this is to bring in more reinforcements.
Todibo is a solid player with 144 senior club appearances to his name at Nice, Barcelona, Benfica, Schalke and Toulouse.
He has also won two caps for the France national team, which boasts a number of absolutely incredible centre-backs and is not easy to break into for a central defender.
Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks. This is certainly a rumour with some legs and things seem to be on the right track.
