‘Immense today’: Liverpool fans react to performance of Joel Matip at Man City

Liverpool ground out a 1-1 draw at Man City today to continue their defence of the Premier League title.

Both teams were evenly matched on a dismal afternoon in Manchester, with goals from Mo Salah (pen), and Gabriel Jesus ensuring the game finished 1-1 at The Etihad.

For Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp once again went with his new look front four but barring the opening half hour, they were relatively quiet for much of the game compared to usual standards.

Kevin De Bruyne did miss a penalty which may have swung the game, but the Reds were more than worthy of their point.

A number of Liverpool players did well today, including Joel Matip, who returned from injury to martial the defence alongside Joe Gomez.

Matip’s performance caught attention on Twitter, too, with some Reds fans singling the defender out for his excellent display.
