‘Immense’: Leeds fans hail their 27-year-old after his display against Liverpool

Leeds United earned a well deserved point at home to Liverpool on Monday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter picked out Diego Llorente for huge praise after his display.

Despite all the attention being on the proposed European Super League right now, there was still a Premier League match played last night.

Llorente’s 87th minute equalising header meant Leeds ended up drawing 1-1 at Elland Road, as it cancelled out Sadio Mane’s opening goal in the first half.

Leeds had to stand firm against a Liverpool team that were fast out of the gates and impressive in the opening 45 minutes.

Fortunately, the Whites had the energy to keep going for the 90 minutes, and the fact they ended up with 62 per cent possession in the match stats highlights how competitive the league meeting was against last year’s title winners.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media picked out Llorente as a major positive from last night’s match.

The 27-year-old defender popped up with the decisive moment with his header from a Jack Harrison corner, which was his first for the Yorkshire giants.

He is a centre-back that is a full Spain international and he’s been unfortunate with injuries during his first season at Leeds, but he’s really finding his feet in the past couple of months.
