‘Immense’: Aston Villa fans react to Tyrone Mings’ performance in Aston Villa defeat

It looks seemingly unlikely that Villa will secure a place in the play-offs this season.

Aston Villa’s play-off ambitions are hanging by a thread following last night’s 1-0 defeat to Brentford at Griffin Park.

Neal Maupay struck in the last minute to hand boss Dean Smith defeat on his first return to his former club.

It was another disappointing night for the Villans who are now three games without a victory.

With a squad boasting some serious talent, it will be desperately disconcerting if Smith doesn’t lead his boyhood team into the play-offs.

Villa were outplayed by Thomas Frank’s outfit, who bounced back following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest.

There wasn’t much positivity for Villa fans to take from the game.

Tyrone Mings, on loan from Bournemouth, came in for some praise following another sound showing from the 25-year-old.

The central defender has looked the part since checking-in from the Cherries on transfer deadline day, and tweeted after the game:

Mings is likely to leave Eddie Howe’s men at the end of the current campaign and already it would appear that Villa fans would welcome his permanent arrival.

The supporters were quick to thank Mings for his solid showing, despite it looking apparent that some of his team-mates let him down.
