Tottenham have work to do in the January transfer window.
Spurs still haven’t fully replaced Harry Kane, while they will be short in the midfield this winter when Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr head to the African Cup of Nations.
Ange Postecoglou has made it clear he wants new signings in January, and there’s one position in particular that is said to be a priority.
Indeed, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones has shared an update on Spurs’ January plans, and he says that he’s been told that a new centre-back addition is the most likely signing that the north London club will be making in the January window.

Centre-back most likely signing
Jones shared what he knows about Tottenham’s plans.
“All I can say is that at the moment I am told that the priority is a centre-back. Possibly a midfielder, Juventus are having a look at Hojbjerg, but Tottenham don’t really want to lose him at the moment, the centre-back I’m told still that is the most likely,” Jones said.
Desperate
There are a few positions that Tottenham need to fill this summer, but the one spot they’re desperate for reinforcements in is at centre-back.
Micky Van de Ven has picked up an injury, and given how he plays, he could be susceptible to hamstring issues throughout his entire career, while Cristian Romero never feels more than five minutes away from a potential red card.
Tottenham don’t have much depth beyond those two. Eric Dier and Ben Davies can do a job, but, in an ideal world, you wouldn’t want either of those players starting in crunch Premier League games.
Luckily, the January window isn’t far away, and Tottenham will have an opportunity to get a few deals done next month.
Keep an eye on new defensive additions at Spurs this winter.
