'I'm told': Club don't want to sell their 'incredible' player to Tottenham in January, Romano suggests

Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Brighton will not sell Tottenham target Alexis Mac Allister when the transfer window opens.

It has been reported that Antonio Conte wants to try and sign the Argentina midfielder as early as next month after his World Cup win.

But Romano has told the House of Champions show on YouTube that the Seagulls want to keep him until the summer at the very earliest.

Romano on Mac Allister

Romano said: “Mac Allister was incredible in the World Cup final and throughout the tournament.

“He was really consistent and really important. Brighton have another fantastic midfielder, Moises Caicedo. In January, they will try to keep at least one of them.

“I don’t see Brighton selling Mac Allister in January but maybe in the summer it could be the case depending on the proposals.

“Mac Allister or Caicedo, one of them could leave in 2023, maybe in January or the summer, but I’m told that Brighton want to keep Mac Allister at least until the end of the season.

“I don’t know how easy that will be. They will try to keep him for another six months at least.”

Mac Allister’s World Cup win has definitely raised his profile and likely raised his asking price if and when Brighton decide to sell.

We saw with Marc Cucurella in the summer that they do not get bullied in the transfer market and they only sell at their price.

It would be a surprise if Spurs bullied Brighton into selling mid-season and it is interesting that Caicedo’s future may well be intertwined with Mac Allister’s.
