Tottenham’s season could be derailed by Jurgen Klinsmann of all people.
The German will always be a legend in north London for his goalscoring exploits in the 1990s, but the hero is about to become the villain in January.
Indeed, unfortunately for Spurs, Klinsmann is now the manager of South Korea, and with the Asian Cup kicking off in January, the German is going to be taking one of Tottenham’s most important players – Heung-Min Son away from the club for a prolonged period throughout January and potentially into February.
Klinsmann spoke about this matter on ESPN, and he’s been quick to apologise to his former club for what he’s about to do.

Klinsmann apologises for taking Son away
The manager spoke about Son having to go away from Tottenham.
“Jurgen Klisnman is going to ruin everything in January, he’s going to take the best player to the Asian Cup for South Korea, how could you do that to your former team?” Klinsmann was asked.
“I’m really sorry, but someone has to win the Asian Cup. Unfortunately, the competition starts in early January, so he will be gone from the 2nd of January, until hopefully the final on the 10th of February so it’s more than five weeks he’ll be gone from Spurs. The same with the other players who play in Europe who will contribute in that competition,” Klinsmann said.
Painful irony
There is a real painful irony attached to the fact that it’s Klinsmann who is having this huge impact on Spurs’ season.
30 years ago, this was the man who was saving Tottenham, now he may be condemning them to failure.
Make no mistake about it, Son is one of Spurs’ most important players, and this five-week spell without him could well derail Tottenham’s campaign.
January may well be a tough month for Spurs.
