Mikel Arteta has singled out Declan Rice for praise after the Arsenal midfielder put in an exceptional display against his former side today.
Arsenal delivered an emphatic display as they thrashed West Ham 6-0 at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Bukayo Saka bagged a brace on the day, while the likes of Leandro Trossard, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Declan Rice got in on the act.
There were plenty of brilliant performances all over the pitch from Arsenal’s point of view. But Rice certainly caught the eye in the middle of the park.

The 25-year-old registered two assists as he set up both Saliba and Gabriel from set-piece situations. He also netted a stunning effort from distance just before being replaced by Mohamed Elneny in the 67th minute.
And it’s fair to say that Mikel Arteta was impressed with the Englishman’s display against his former side today.
Arteta delighted with Rice as Arsenal thrash West Ham
Speaking to Football.London, Arteta admitted he was delighted to hear sections of the West Ham fans applauding Rice as he left the pitch today.
“I’m really happy with him,” Arteta said. “I know that it was an emotional day for him because he loves West Ham.
“But he had to focus on what he had to deliver. Set pieces were one of those. I was really pleased to see the class of the crowd to give him what he deserves.”

Rice was booed by sections of the West Ham faithful during the first half today. But it sums up the Englishman’s performance that he left the pitch to applause from his former supporters.
His delivery from set-piece situations has become a real weapon for Arsenal in recent weeks and Rice has also proven he can pop up with goals.
Arteta will undoubtedly be delighted with his side’s display today and you get the feeling that Arsenal are finding their best form ahead of the business end of the campaign.
