Leeds United forward Rodrigo Moreno has expressed his desire to stay at Elland Road long-term.

The 31-year-old is the Whites’ record signing, having cost a reported £26million from Valencia in 2020.

Rodrigo is also reported to be the highest earner at Elland Road too, on £100,000-a-week.

The Spaniard has struggled at times but looks invigorated under new Leeds boss Jesse Marsch.

Rodrigo has scored twice in Leeds’ last two games, the wins over Norwich and Wolves.

Marsch felt the Spaniard was the best representative of the squad’s foreign players and added him to a new ‘leadership council’.

He also sat down for a heart-to-heart conversation with Rodrigo following the defeat to Aston Villa.

With Leeds now seven points clear of the bottom three, there’s a lot more optimism at Elland Road.

Obviously there’s still a lot of work to be done for the Whites to secure Premier League safety.

And while the future remains uncertain for now, Rodrigo has made it clear he wants to stay at Leeds.

“The future you never know but my idea is to stay here,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I’m really happy with the club, my family are really happy living here in England, my daughter and my wife.

“I feel an important part of this club, my team-mates made me feel like this, everyone who works for the club.

“I think I’ve created a really good relationship with everyone here. You never know what’s going to happen.

“Of course when the summer comes everyone is going away, everyone is coming in, we don’t have games so we have to keep speaking about something and I understand that’s part of football as well, I accept this.

“But if you’re asking me – I’m really happy here.”
