‘I’m pretty sure’… Arsenal’s £13m player is very likely to sign a new contract soon

Jorginho may just be Arsenal’s best player so far this year.

Since the turn of the year, the Italian has been incredible. He’s come into the team and absolutely bossed almost every game he’s played, bringing an element of control to the side while allowing Declan Rice to play further forwards.

The Italian has been utterly fantastic in recent weeks, and what’s the best way to reward a spell of good form? A new contract of course.

Indeed, Jorginho’s current deal is set to expire this summer, and while Arsenal do hold an option to extend this deal by a further year, according to Steve Kay, speaking on KS1TV, the plan is to tie Jorginho down to brand new terms.

Jorginho set for a new Arsenal contract

Kay shared what he knows about the £13m man.

“You have Jorginho as a backup to come in and I’m pretty sure he will sign a new contract at the end of the season. He already has an option to 2025, but I think he will sign another one,” Kay said.

Deserves it

Jorginho absolutely deserves a new deal at Arsenal, and the Gunners would be very wise to get this sorted promptly.

Yes, we understand there may be some concerns about tying a 32-year-old down to a new deal so late in their career, but Jorginho is playing better than ever, and, let’s be honest, the midfielder has never been overly reliant on his pace, so he shouldn’t be affected too much by his age over the next few years.

Whether or not Jorginho remains as a key player for Arsenal over the next few seasons remains to be seen, but even if he doesn’t having a Champions League winner around as a depth option or as a leader in the dressing room is never a bad thing.
