'I'm over the moon': Klopp says Liverpool have signed a player who's a 'pure joy to watch'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has expressed his delight at bringing Fabio Carvalho to Anfield this summer.

The Reds confirmed they had signed the 19-year-old back in May, after Fulham’s season came to a close.

Liverpool tried to sign Carvalho back in January but they ran out of time to complete the deal on Deadline Day.

However, the Reds maintained their interest in the teenager and went on to sign him for £5million plus add-ons.

Carvalho linked up with Liverpool at the start of July and has already been impressing his new teammates.

Rhys Williams told LFCTV – via The Mirror – that the youngster is of a “high, high standard”.

Likewise, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain said Carvalho is “very technically gifted”.

“That’s proper quality”

Now, Klopp – speaking to the Liverpool media team – has given his new player some very high praise.

“Fabio, wow, what a season he played with Fulham.

“Getting promoted [with a] football-playing [style], properly football-playing, is not easy.

“So, Marco Silva obviously did an incredible job there, but a big part of that was absolutely Fabio.

“And Harry Wilson obviously, our former [player], and Neco [Williams] of course.

“When we watched him it was a pure joy to watch him, absolutely.

“He can play so many different positions for us, the way we play.

“At the minute he’s not really set on one position.

“It’s the wing, it’s the eight, it’s the 10, it’s the false nine if he grows a few more muscles.

“It’s a short-term and a long-term project.

“He can start tomorrow and he needs to adapt, you can see that a little bit, but when he has the ball that’s proper quality.

“I’m over the moon that he’s here. Fantastic prospect.”
