Ivan Toney is the man being most strongly linked with a move to Arsenal at the moment.
The Brentford striker has been mentioned in connection with the Gunners for months at this point, and with the January window now open, speculation is only growing.
So, would Toney be the right man for Arsenal? Well, he certainly knows where the back of the net is, but according to Leon Osman, speaking on Premier League Productions, Toney may not suit Arsenal’s style of play.

Toney not right for Arsenal
Osman shared his verdict on the £60m striker.
“The name that has been mentioned the most is Ivan Toney, I’m not sure he does suit them. People think he would be perfect for them, but I’m not completely sure. What they do need is a striker who wants to score 15/20 goals a season, they have strikers at the moment that want to be a part of a nice football team, but they also need that selfish one, a ruthless one who wats goals for themselves,” Osman said.
New style
Osman is absolutely right, Toney wouldn’t necessarily suit Arsenal’s current style. After all, they play with a striker in the shape of Gabriel Jesus who is a lot more about linking play than he is scoring goals.
However, if Toney signed for the Gunners, it would surely usher in a new style at the Emirates.
This time 18 months ago, the same debates where happening about Erling Haaland at Manchester City – of course he wouldn’t suit playing as a false nine, but what did Pep Guardiola do? He changed his style.
If Toney came to Arsenal, Mikel Arteta would find a way to make it work, and, in our view, it could be exactly what the Gunners need as they continue to struggle for goals.
