Leandro Trossard has been utterly brilliant for Arsenal over the past few weeks.
The Belgian has been fantastic for the Gunners since coming into the team in place of Gabriel Jesus after the Brazilian’s injury, and he’s scored almost every time he’s stepped onto the pitch.
Unfortunately though, it does feel as though Trossard’s run in the side may be short-lived as upon Jesus’ return he may be back out of the side.
However, many have suggested that Arsenal need to find another position for Trossard to play in as he’s in such brilliant form.
One suggestion has been to drop the 28-year-old back into midfield, but according to Darren Bent, speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, that may not be such a good idea, claiming that he’s not sure whether or not that role is suited to him.

Darren Bent not sure about Leandro Trossard as a midfielder
Bent shared his verdict on the Belgian.
“Yeah I like him, I really like him. Whether he can play that number eight role as well, I’m not sure, but coming from wide or in that false nine, everytime he gets an opportunity he scores, he creates, he can play with both feet as well. Havertz is doing ok, you’d expect more, but he is finding his feet and playing in that Arteta way,” Bent said.
Not strong enough
We really like Trossard as a player, but we can see what Bent is saying here.
Whether it’s Granit Xhaka in the past or Kai Havertz right now, Arsenal need a bit of a physical presence in that midfield role, and Trossard just doesn’t have it.
With the ball at his feet, Trossard is probably a better player than Havertz, and he’s more of an attacking threat, but if he’s playing deeper, he could be bullied by some of the other physical players who will be occupying much of the same space as him on the pitch in that position.
