Andre Onana has spoken of his form at Manchester United this season and admitted he isn’t happy with himself so far.

Onana was a big money signing for United in the summer, costing the Old Trafford club around £47m following David de Gea’s departure.

However, a number of high profile errors from Onana, coupled with some poor performances from the team overall, have put the spotlight firmly on the United stopper.

The Cameroon international was one of the top goalkeepers in Europe last season.

And speaking to Sky Sports, Onana has admitted he is far from happy right now with how things are going for him at Old Trafford.

“You want to tell me in 6 months the best goalkeeper of the Champions League last season became the worst in the world? No,” Onana said.

“Everything is temporary. I know it will be alright, if not today, tomorrow. If not tomorrow, the day after tomorrow. If I see my first five or six month in United, I am not happy with myself. I used to do much more, better than what happened now. I was number one in the Champions League. But everything is temporary.”

The Red Devils take on Liverpool today and Onana is set for a busy day against the Reds’ exciting attack.

Andre Onana not happy with Manchester United form

Being self critical and able to recognise when things aren’t going well is an important part of being a top athlete and Onana obviously knows he can do better.

There is absolutely no doubt he is a top goalkeeper on his day and United signed him for a good reason.

Right now, the errors he’s made are overriding everything he is doing that’s good. And in fairness, those errors have been big so it’s quite right that fans are picking up on that.

Onana will just need to keep going and showing his qualities and resilience. It’s a huge job playing for Manchester United in goal and there’s no hiding place.

Luckily, he seems open to knowing when things aren’t going well and over time, that should help him overcome his issues and prove to be a top goalkeeper.
