Michail Antonio says he is fit to play for West Ham United against Liverpool at Anfield tonight after illness.

Antonio played just three minutes of the 1-1 draw against Southampton on Sunday afternoon and missed Thursday’s win over Anderlecht entirely.

The striker had been ill but told the Footballers’ Football Podcast on the BBC that he is ready to be part of the squad against the Reds.

Antonio fit to face Liverpool

He said: “I’m feeling good, so we will see if I’m in the squad or not.

“(Liverpool) are going to be shattered. They ran themselves into the ground at the weekend.

“Hopefully we can use that against them! We play well against (them). We’ve had a couple of results.

“It’s one of those games where we are just going to go for it. Away from home it’s never going to be easy with the Kop.”

Antonio has been hailed as ‘outstanding‘ but has lost his Hammers place to summer signing Gianluca Scamacca in recent games.

Perhaps he will get the nod at Anfield tonight in a game which could be tricky for West Ham if Liverpool’s return to form continues.

It is good for West Ham that the hitman is over his period of illness because they have a busy fixture schedule and need as many players available as possible.
