'I'm a fan': Fabio Vieira names four Arsenal players who have blown him away already
Arsenal have completed the signing of Fabio Vieira from Porto.
The Gunners announced the 22-year-old’s arrival on Tuesday afternoon.
Prior to confirming Vieira’s arrival, Arsenal dropped hints on Twitter over the last 24 hours.
The Gunners spelled out F-A-B-I-O in their posts before finally announcing they had signed the player.
According to Sky Sports, Arsenal will pay £30million up front plus £4million in performance-related add-ons.
Vieira has signed a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.
As well as announcing the Portugal Under-21 star’s arrival, Arsenal posted an interview they conducted with the player.
The Gunners media team asked Vieira what he made of Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah when he faced them at the U21 Euros.
“They are both quality players,” he replied. “Arsenal have top players and I’m now here to help the team reach its goals.”
The Gunners also asked Vieira which players he admires. He replied by naming Bukayo Saka and Smith Rowe.
Vieira then added that Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard is a player who’s “similar” to him.
“I’m a fan of Bukayo Saka and Smith Rowe, too,” he said. “I really like the way they play.
“Odegaard is quite similar to me.”
“So much presence”
Vieira also named four Arsenal legends who had impressed him.
“I know some very famous players have played here,” he said.
“Some big stars, global legends of the game, such as Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Cazorla and Fabregas.
“I remember them well. They were players who had so much presence on the pitch.
Vieira came through Porto’s youth system and made 27 appearances during last season’s Primeira Liga triumph.
He is the third player to join Arsenal this summer along with Matt Turner and Marquinhos.
