Leeds United suffered another defeat in London on Monday night, losing 2-0 to West Ham United as David Moyes’ side held on to all three points – and Illan Meslier has expressed his frustration at VAR’s decision to disallow an early effort from the Whites.
Meslier, 21, failed to stop West Ham from winning 2-0 – even though he saved a penalty from Jesse Lingard, who then turned home the rebound. Meslier was perhaps at fault for the second goal, as Aaron Cresswell’s corner found Craig Dawson.
But inside the first 10 minutes, Leeds dominated. They had two goals disallowed, with Tyler Roberts slamming the first effort home – only for a matter of milimetres, dictating that Helder Costa was offside. Patrick Bamford’s neat finish was also ruled out.
Meslier and the Leeds players were clearly frustrated, given they dominated the second half. Meslier responded to images of Costa being ruled offside, and showed his opinion of the decision with three emojis on his Twitter account.

TBR’s view – It’s not the first time for Leeds fans, or Bamford
Earlier in the season, Bamford was ruled out for scoring what seemed like a good goal against Palace at Selhurst Park. The lines were drawn against the uncapped England striker – while against Wolves at Molineux, again, it was milimetres.
VAR’s offside lines continue to follow Leeds around and to the human eye, Costa looks onside. Roberts’ effort looked more than a decent goal, while Bamford’s did go out of play. Leeds have had less luck than most when it comes to VAR.
