Illan Meslier’s agent has been discussing the player’s current situation amid the UK lockdown. Due to the current global health crisis, Leeds United’s march to potential Championship promotion has had to be put on hold.
It also came at a bad time for Meslier, who was just enjoying his first run in the Leeds first-team after Kiko Casilla’s suspension for racially abusing Charlton Athletic’s Jonathan Leko earlier this season.
It also means no training and pay cuts for the Leeds United player.

Speaking to Ouest France, Yvon Pouliquen, made it clear that Meslier had no problem with taking the pay cut. However, he also made it clear that the young Frenchman was not getting away with not training. He stated that Leeds United’s goalkeeper coach Carlos Abad remains on his case despite the lack of training.
“Illan is also confined, he stayed in England. But don’t worry, he was sent a trainer, weight training equipment, etc. He is followed daily by the goalkeepers’ coach, who does not let go of him.
“The period is not about talking about money, but I can say that Illan has accepted a cut in wages compared to the current situation. ”
Leeds United fans were just getting to see the best of Meslier, who had impressed when called into action at Elland Road when the league was postponed.
Indeed, plenty of Leeds United fans have been calling for the apparent (Ouest France) €6 million clause (£5.2m) to make the deal permanent in the summer to be activated, such is the standard of his play.
Hopefully, Meslier can continue to remain sharp during the current situation and keep up his fine form when the football gets back underway.
