‘I’ll start the car’: Some fans react as their 20-year-old is linked with West Ham and Everton
West Ham and Everton are both reportedly keen on Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence – and some Boro fans have responded to claim they don’t mind him leaving the Riverside Stadium this summer.
The Telegraph reports Premier League trio West Ham, Everton and Norwich City all have the 20-year-old on their radar.
Spence, who has already played 66 first-team games for Championship club Boro, is an upcoming talent.
The London-born speedster is someone with great pace and athleticism to get all round the pitch. He’s a right-back by trade, but played a lot of last season as a wing-back.
A selection of Boro fans on social media are open to the idea of Spence leaving, which is perhaps something that should alarm Premier League suitors.
Everton could be the smart option for Djed Spence
For Spence, the option to move to a Premier League club should excite him, if the opportunity arises during the next month.
Merseyside giants Everton definitely look an attractive option. Toffees captain Seamus Coleman is their starting right-back, but he needs a young understudy to cover and eventually replace him. He would surely improve drastically shadowing the 32-year-old, plus it would be a great step up.
In contrast, West Ham already have Vladimir Coufal and Ryan Fredericks at full-back. A loan there would make little sense.
