England manager Gareth Southgate named his squad for this month’s World Cup qualifiers and Ian Wright is not a happy man.

Football fans expected plenty of changes to the squad this time. The likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Jarrod Bowen, Fikayo Tomori and Conor Gallagher were all hoping to get a call-up, but they’ve all been snubbed.

Wright, who knows a thing or two about not making the England squad despite playing out of his skin at club level, was furious with some of Southgate’s decisions.

The Arsenal legend hit out at the England boss for ignoring players who’ve been playing brilliantly over the last month or so.

The Arsenal legend was absolutely stunned at the fact that Tomori was snubbed once again. The Englishman has been incredible for AC Milan since joining them, but he, like a few others, hasn’t been given an opportunity.

Wright also felt for West Ham duo Bowen and Aaron Cresswell, Arsenal star Ben White and Crystal Palace midfielder Gallagher, who have all been magnificent in the Premier League this season.

“I’ve been there where form is ignored and certain players are guaranteed spots!! It’s hard to take because there is nothing else you can do. I don’t know what Tomori needs to do (to) get in and get a chance. Cresswell, Bowen, White, Gallagher will all be gutted,” Wright wrote on Twitter.

TBR View:

It really is a difficult one to take for all the players who’ve been snubbed by the England manager.

Tomori and White have been on another level compared to Harry Maguire and Tyrone Mings this season. Bowen has impressed a lot more than Jack Grealish, while Smith Rowe and Gallagher have definitely done more than James Ward-Prowse over the last month.

Sadly for them, they’ll have to wait a few more months before they’re considered again, but they may not get in even then considering that Southgate prefers to keep his core together even if they’re not playing well.
