A number of fans have rallied behind Celtic on-loan defender Shane Duffy after he expressed his disappointment following the Republic of Ireland’s defeat on Sunday.
Duffy was the hero last Thursday as he headed home a late equaliser in the UEFA Nations League meeting with Bulgaria, which finished 1-1.
However, the Parkhead newcomer couldn’t prevent the Republic from falling to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Finland at the Aviva Stadium.

Duffy put in a good performance with several key interceptions in the first half, though a lapse in concentration saw Teemu Pukki nearly open the scoring.
Finland did break the deadlock just after the hour through Fredrik Jensen, a stray pass from Duffy’s teammate moving the Ireland captain out of position.
The 28-year-old also had a chance to repeat his heroics in Bulgaria late on in Dublin but he headed Robbie Brady’s corner over the Finland bar.
