Tottenham lost 4-1 to Chelsea on Monday evening, and there’s a real feeling that the wheels could be coming off at Spurs after this result.
Indeed, it wasn’t just any old defeat. There were two red cards and two injuries during the game as well, leaving Spurs with a severely depleted squad in the coming weeks.
The north London club could be set for a real dip in form, and speaking on talkSPORT, Andy Townsend has warned Spurs that one player in particular could ruin their season.
Indeed, Townsend has been speaking about Cristian Romero, and while he says the Argentine has played well this season, he worries that his lack of discipline could ultimately ruin Tottenham’s entire season.

Romero could ruin Spurs’ season
Townsend gave his verdict on the £42m man.
“With regards to Romero, I’m sure they love him because fans love a cult hero type player. He’s capable of ruining a season him if you’re not careful. He’s been playing outstandingly well alongside Van de Ven, but he has this thing in him where he just goes in a split second,” Townsend said.
Romero needs to calm down
Romero has been brilliant this season due to the fact he’s seemingly had a lid on his emotions. However, that all went out of the window on Monday.
He’ll now serve a three-game suspension, and when he comes back, he needs to make sure he has his head straight.
The Argentine can easily get riled up, and upon his return to action, opposition teams will be targeting him and trying to throw him off his game.
It’s easier said than done, but Romero needs to make sure he doesn’t rise to any of this, because fans and players will continue to try and get him sent off.
