A number of Aston Villa fans have given their thoughts on the Calciomercato report claiming the Villa Park side is interested in Fabio Baptista.

The Italian outlet claims that the Villans, along with Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, are casting their eye over the 19-year-old, who currently plays for Benfica’s B team.

Serie A high-flyers Atalanta are also said to be interested in Baptista, who is yet to make his Benfica debut but is deemed a “great prospect for the future”.

A versatile right-sided player who can be deployed on the wing and at full-back, Baptista has made three appearances for Benfica B in the Portuguese second tier this term.

He also continues to play for Benfica’s Under-23s and has won two caps for Portugal’s Under-20s.

Although Villa signed two right-flankers this summer – Matty Cash and Bertrand Traore – it remains to be seen whether there could be any outgoings next year.

Ahmed Elmohamady’s contract runs out next summer, while Frederic Guilbert and Anwar El Ghazi have got very little game time for Villa this term.

In addition, Baptista would likely be one for the future were he to sign, so he could start off in the Under-23s to begin with and potentially work his way up to the first team.

Here is what some Villa fans have made of the report:
