If reports are true, Tottenham could soon land ideal Ndombele replacement for less than £16m – TBR View

Tottenham Hotspur struck gold in the January transfer window when they snapped up Rodrigo Bentancur.

However, there’s still scope for Spurs to make more changes in midfield over the summer.

Tanguy Ndombele left Tottenham on loan, while Dele Alli joined Everton on a permanent deal.

According to the Evening Standard, Lyon aren’t expected to sign Ndombele permanently.

However, the Frenchman reportedly has no future at N17 under Antonio Conte.

In addition, Harry Winks’ future at Spurs is uncertain ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The Daily Star claimed in March that the Englishman is also not in Conte’s long-term plans.

With the above in mind, there could well be more new arrivals in midfield at Tottenham.

And if a recent report is true, Spurs might be able to land one of Europe’s top young midfielders for a bargain fee.

“One of the top four or five No. 8’s in Europe”

Tuttosport, via Sport Witness, claim Spurs are one of several Premier League sides to have ‘made an enquiry’ about Mattias Svanberg.

Svanberg’s Bologna contract expires in 2023 and he’s yet to pen fresh terms at the Serie A club.

The Swede’s club reportedly – and understandably – doesn’t want to sell him.

They have apparently put a ‘high price’ of €18-20million (£15million-£16.7million) on Svanberg.

Tuttosport also claim Bologna are hoping to convince the player’s agents to sign a new deal so they can sell for a higher price.

And the Italians are apparently confident they can come to some sort of arrangement with Svanberg’s camp.

This could potentially be in the form of a new deal with a release clause, or at least an agreement to sell for a price that he and his agent find acceptable.

However, as things stand, Svanberg reportedly has ‘no intention’ of signing a contract extension.

In addition, Conte and Fabio Paratici have already done a lot of research into the 23-year-old.

In December, i claimed Tottenham were leading the race for Svanberg.

A source told the outlet: “He’s probably one of the top four or five No 8’s in Europe – that’s how good he is.

“Spurs already know him very, very well because of the Italians involved in the club now.”
