Tottenham Hotspur struck gold in the January transfer window by signing Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Both players have improved Spurs massively, and now Antonio Conte’s charges are favourites for a Champions League place.

The Kulusevski deal, in particular, was a masterstroke from Fabio Paratici.

Tottenham paid Juventus just £8.3million to take the Sweden international to N17 an 18-month loan deal.

The deal reportedly includes the option to make the move permanent this summer for a further £24.9m.

At the time, Kulusevski’s stock had fallen due to a lack of game time and being deployed in many different positions.

Now, the 22-year-old has shown what he can do, and Tottenham look to be getting themselves a bargain.

A report in the Evening Standard from late April claimed Spurs have already decided to go ahead and buy Kulusevski.

Can Spurs land ‘new Gattuso’?

Now, according to Calciomercato – via Sport Witness – Tottenham may look to land another Juve gem in a similar manner.

The Italian outlet claims Spurs are ‘ready to deal’ with the Bianconeri to sign Weston McKennie on a loan-to-buy deal.

McKennie has struggled to establish himself as a key player under Massimiliano Allegri.

Juventus are also reportedly pushing to re-sign Paul Pogba this summer.

This would push McKennie further down the pecking order, and Tottenham are apparently looking to take advantage.

CM claim that Spurs are one of two teams ‘ready to deal’ with Juventus for a loan deal for the midfielder.

This would apparently be similar to the deals they negotiated in the January transfer window.

As well as Tottenham, Roma are apparently in pursuit of McKennie.

A recent report from TuttoJuve claimed Spurs are looking to spend around £25million on him.

The United States international could certainly do with a move elsewhere, and Tottenham need to bolster their midfield ranks.

Paratici and Conte have already landed two top talents from Juve, they might as well look to make it a hat-trick.

Comparisons to Kante, Gattuso and Vidal

McKennie is highly rated in Italy but he’s even more popular in his home country.

American legend Alexi Lalas, who has watched a lot of the midfielder over the years, was asked about him, and he went on to compare him to three world-class midfielders.

Lalas said in an interview with TuttoSport: “He (McKennie) could be a new Gattuso, who (ex-Juve boss Andrea Pirlo) played with the original and knows how important it was for the balance of that Milan.

“McKennie has something of Gattuso, but also of Kante and Vidal. As they say here: Beauty and the Beast.

“Beauty and the beast both serve to win. And McKennie, as well as a conqueror of balls, also has excellent skills in the construction of the game and with his head he is always dangerous on inactive balls.”
