It’s not been an easy season for Leeds United, but they seem to be on the right track now.

Just a few weeks ago, the Whites were freefalling towards the Premier League relegation zone.

Leeds opted to make the controversial decision to sack Marcelo Bielsa and bring Jesse Marsch in.

The American initially struggled at Elland Road, losing his first two games in charge.

Indeed, the Aston Villa defeat was particularly hard to take.

Leeds then improved and picked up seven points from their last three league games.

The Whites are currently six points above the bottom three and there’s real cause for optimism.

Should Leeds survive the drop, this would also mean they have a better chance of retaining their stars.

Take Kalvin Phillips. He’s Leeds through and through, but he’d surely consider his future in case of relegation.

The Mirror recently claimed Phillips has told the club board he’s happy to sign a new contract at the end of the season.

Leeds and Phillips have reportedly been keen to agree new terms for some time.

However, the two sides apparently paused talks while the Whites try to secure their Premier League status.

In addition, the outlet claims Phillips is changing agent at the end of the season, another possible reason for the delay.

Now, GiveMeSport‘s Dean Jones has claimed that Phillips has been “really impressed” by Marsch, according to Dean Jones.

And the Leeds hometown hero is reportedly “more and more convinced” about his future at Elland Road.

“They’re starting to turn the corner,” Jones wrote on GiveMeSport.

“He’s been really impressed by what Jesse Marsch has done so far.

“I do think he’s becoming more and more convinced about staying but, of course, money does talk.”

If the above reports are true, then Marsch will be doing Leeds fans a favour they’ll never forget in getting Phillips to commit his future to the club.
