Kyle Walker has been asked about Hugo Lloris ahead of England’s huge World Cup quarter-final clash with France.

Lloris captained Walker during their time together at Spurs but the right-back left to join Manchester City and has won every domestic trophy on offer under Pep Guardiola.

Walker faced the media ahead of Saturday night’s game and while the majority of the questions were about Kylian Mbappe, he also took one about Lloris.

Walker on Lloris

He said: “Hugo was my captain at Tottenham. I remember when he signed when Brad Friedel was in net and he came from Lyon.

“He was a great professional and captain. I have nothing but good words to say about Hugo.

“But if he’s watching I hope you don’t have the best of games on Saturday because I want a win and I want to take my country through!”

£12 million man Lloris is a strange case in the sense that he is the captain of the world champions but still has flaky moments for Tottenham and has not been able to lead them to a trophy.

English supporters will know that Lloris is just as capable of an error in a big game as he is a masterclass when faced with constant bombardment.

Walker, Harry Kane and Eric Dier will know Lloris well as a current or former teammate and the challenge is breaking the world champions down while keeping the likes of Mbappe quiet at the other end.
