‘If all goes to plan’: Ornstein teases that Arsenal could announce £30m signing within 72 hours
Arsenal could announce the £30m signing of Martin Odegaard before their next Premier League game against Chelsea.
According to David Ornstein, the Gunners are working fast to complete a deal for the Norwegian international.
The Athletic journalist posted on Twitter that ‘if all goes to plan’, Odegaard could feature for the Gunners this Sunday in their London derby against the Blues.
The Real Madrid playmaker is set to become Arsenal’s fourth signing of the summer within the next 72 hours.
Mikel Arteta brought in Odegaard last season on a short-term loan deal from Los Blancos, and the youngster impressed.
And now Arsenal look set to sign Odegaard on a permanent deal. At the start of the summer, it looked like the 22-year-old midfielder would remain in Spain.
However, Carlo Ancelotti has remained coy over how much playing time Odegaard will get with Madrid this season.
The Scandinavian playmaker is all-but-guaranteed a first-team spot with Arsenal. And the former Real Sociedad loanee has seemingly made his decision.
Indeed, it will be a major coup for Arsenal to sign one of Europe’s top playmakers at a reasonable price.
Moreover, with the Gunners looking to complete the deal as quickly as possible, there could be a chance that Odegaard might play against Chelsea on Sunday.
