The next few days could be crucial to the future of Everton’s Tom Davies and it may not hinge on any transfer dealings which directly involve him as first choice midfielder Idrissa Gueye looks like a potential player to be on the move.
Earlier this week, Sky Sports claimed that the former Aston Villa man was subject to a £21.5 million bid from Paris Saint-Germain, and though it was rejected, Sky Sports then reported that he had requested that the club consider selling him before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
It comes as the Daily Mail reported that Celtic were strongly interested in a loan move for the young midfielder, who made only his second Premier League start since October against Huddersfield at the weekend.

With Gueye out of the picture and with very little time to bring in a replacement, Marco Silva may have little to no choice but to turn to the 20-year-old, despite his unconvincing form in the past few months.
The England under 21 international has failed to build on the progress he made under Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce last season and must now continue to prove that he has what it takes to be a midfield stalwart for the Toffees.
If Gueye departs and there is no time to bring in a replacement, it may turn out to be a six month audition for a role as Everton’s midfield destroyer. Failure to take advantage could be damaging.
