'I'd settle for £3.5m': Some fans react as 10-goal ace linked with Rangers last year wants summer move
Glasgow Rangers were linked with Lewis Ferguson last summer, but Steven Gerrard wasn’t able to bring the 21-year-old to Ibrox – could he do so this year?
According to a report in the Scottish Sun from May 2020, the Gers manager had the Aberdeen ace in his sights – one of his top targets that summer, apparently.
Now, the Dons midfielder has stunned his club by handing them a written transfer request in wake of interest from an English Premier League side.
Ferguson is one of Scotland’s best young players, clocking up 10 goals and five assists in 41 appearances for the Dons this season.
He joined Aberdeen in 2018 from Hamilton Academical and it didn’t take him long to become one of the first names on former boss Derek McInnes’ team sheet.
But could his time at Pittodrie be coming to an end? He has handed a written transfer request to the Dons, but they aren’t having any of it.
“Aberdeen Football Club is greatly disappointed to have received a written transfer request from midfielder Lewis Ferguson today,” the Scottish Premiership club said in a statement.
“This request, made after the club dismissed what can only be described as an insulting offer from an English Premier League club for one of Scotland’s most talented young midfield players, was rejected immediately.”
Watford, who have been promoted from the English Championship this season, have been linked with Ferguson’s services – but could Derek Ferguson’s son and Barry Ferguson’s nephew return to Ibrox?
Wherever he ends up, Dons fans don’t want to see him going cheap:
Quite right to refuse it unless £4million starting price is met.

Not a massive surprise. Play hardball to get at least £5m + sell on clause and make sure he goes down south.

3 years left on his deal and only 21. Stand firm until a proper bid comes in. Then get rid. Need players that want to be here.

Get him sold ASAP

If he no longer wants to be here. Then there’s no point keeping him. Look what happened to mckenna with all the transfer speculation.
Sell him for a decent fee, and make a good profit. He’s easily replaced. No player is bigger than this team.

Meant £4m but I’d settle for 3.5m
