‘I’d rather have Hourihane’: Some Villa fans fume as club reportedly plot move for 26-y/o ace

Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing Will Hughes this summer as an alternative to James Ward-Prowse.

According to the Express, Dean Smith is a fan of the Watford midfielder. Villa are eager to sign a central midfielder this summer, and Hughes appears to be the club’s new number one target.

Villa were keen on Ward-Prowse earlier in the window. However, it appears that Southampton are not open to selling their club captain. Especially with Danny Ings eager to leave.

Hughes was instrumental to Watford’s promotion-winning season last campaign. The midfielder made 30 appearances in the Championship for the Hornets as Xisco Munoz’s side finished second in the standings.

Despite playing a key role in Watford’s return to the Premier League, some Villa fans on social media are not happy with reports linking Hughes to the Birmingham club.
