Ian Wright has sent a message on Twitter to Leeds United loanee Eddie Nketiah as the Arsenal youngster continues to remain on the substituted bench at Elland Road – failing to get a league start since joining the club.
Nketiah, 20, joined Leeds in the summer from Arsenal on a season-long loan. The Whites pipped Bundsliga sides and Bristol City to his signature, but it has hardly gone to plan for the England Under-21 international.
Marcelo Bielsa’s stubbornness has seen Nketiah fail to start a single league game this season, with Patrick Bamford being picked instead. Bielsa’s thinking is that Bamford offers more to all-round play, while Nketiah is just looking to nab goals.
Bamford has been in decent form of late, and has 10 goals to his name this season. Nketiah replaced the ex-Chelsea man in the 64th minute on Boxing Day during a 1-1 draw against Preston and impressed – prompting reaction from Wright.
Immediate impact yesterday. All you can do 👊🏾♥️

TBR’s view – Wright sympathising with Nketiah, Arteta has to take action
Unfortunately for Nketiah, he has come across a manager who is too invested in his own tactics to maybe try something else – and you can hardly argue with Bielsa. Leeds sit second in the Championship, eight points clear of third.
With the January window approaching and the chance to recall Nketiah, Arteta has a decision to make. Let him gain more experience under one of the world’s best managers in Bielsa – or loan him out elsewhere for game time.
The latter option makes more sense.
