Gabriel Martinelli took to Instagram at the weekend to share a picture of himself back on the training pitch – and Ian Wright was quick to sen him a rousing message.
The Brazilian hasn’t featured for the Gunners since March after picking up a knee injury. He was on the bench for the first two games back after the restart but hasn’t been in a squad since.
Martinelli enjoyed a solid maiden campaign in the Premier League following his £6 million arrival from Ituano (Telegraph).
He fired 10 goals and registered four assists in all competitions and looks like being a star of the future for Arsenal.
With the youngster stepping up his training ahead of his return, legendary striker Wright posted on Martinelli’s Instagram with a resounding message for the player.
Arsenal slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium last night, with Jamie Vardy firing the winning goal.
The Gunners sit in 10th place in the Premier League and although they have shown promise they are still striving for consistency.
Arteta does have some pretty useful players right now, especially in attack, but he will surely welcome Martinelli back into the fold.
He highlighted just how useful he could be last season, proving capable of playing out wide or through the middle.
If Arsenal have real ambitions of gatecrashing the top four this season they will need to ensure as many players stay fit as possible.
Having the £90,000-a-week Martinelli to call upon as a different option would be ideal and as Wright quite rightly puts it, Arsenal are ready and waiting for his return.
